Changing Transom Window Over Front Door
Moved to a new house. Wife wants privacy glass in front door windows. No problem. Now wants privacy glass in window over front door. This is part of the double front door. Wood frame clad with vinyl. Can't see easy way to remove vinyl around window. Any suggestions? Thanks

Re: Changing Transom Window Over Front Door
Are you getting a replacement glass or a replacement transom.
There should be stops around the inside of the transom glass to take off to remove the glass itself. If removing the whole transom, look closely along the head jamb and you should see spots that were filled with putty. Dig out the putty and there should be a screw. The transom should be screwed to the door unit as an after thought. You will still have to pull the brickmoulding and casing to get the transom out. They make that privacy sheeting that sticks to the glass if you want something simple so nobody can see in. |
