The crying shame is that the HO had no insurance, and we were well on the way to getting her house fixed up enough that she'd be able to get some. Long story, but basically, new hubby moved in, wrecked the place with unfinished projects, and just let it rot for 12+ years.
Shame, it looks like a very cool place. What da deal with that ladder situation on the bay?

Re: Brake Skills Q:

Hey Tom, I know you posted this quite awhile ago.... could you please explain what it means to install capping under your starter strips? I once saw some z-shaped flashing that lapped over the lower edge of a starter strip and wall sheathing, and then down the foundation wall a short way. The builder said it was to keep rainsplash off those lower edges. Was that it, or did you mean something else? Anybody else wanna chime in?

Thanks, Steve

Actually, nevermind, I know what you (Tom) meant. It was 'way 'way past my bedtime when I asked about capping the starter.
