i'm starting to sub the installation of hunter-douglass blinds from a large window and door company and have no idea how much to charge per peice as a sub contractor. Anybody out there done this type of work before that can help me out with some info? Thanks.

I just did 24 windows a couple of weeks ago, I charged $40 a window. Took 5 hours to install and 2 hours travel time.

Of course the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence--
What I know about selling this stuff
Lots of competition
Lots of sample books
Lots of time with buyers on selections
Upside is
Low liability
Easy to train installers
High margins
I'll do the occasional ancillary sale, but I don't have the staff to sell this well.

My train of thought is, 90% of the time when we install replacement windows, as we are packing up to leave, the shade guy is getting ready to install. Why give away that sort of sundry business?
I may not do it myself, but if I subbed it out... It would be like us installing a roof and gutters, and having the HO hire someone else to install gutter guards.

Yeah, for you it would be a good fit. It burns me when I install a window for lets say $500 and the blinds sales person sells the treatment for $520.
It seems the dumber the job the more it pays.
I want to be the dumber guy------------
