We buy big stretch by the pallet. Its a very high grade paintable caulk with excellent adhesion to vinyl. We have used this product for six years now with no problems.

Yes, first you insert a full tube of the caulk in the crevice, and then open another tube and get out the drywall knives to smooth it after you glop it all ontop of the other caulk tube backer rod LOL!!

We've used it and have had great luck with it. I tried it on one of the rooms in my basement when i remodeled it to fill nails holes/tight up joints, etc.. and thus far..it really does stretch and has'nt cracked yet....works great with installing replacement vinyl windows/new construct vinyl windows too since silicone does'nt stick to vinyl.

A couple of gals showed up in a room where we had just caulked the windows and I had to tell them "watch out for my wet caulk".

I think it is supposed to be a pretty good general purpose caulk. And yeah a 2" gap, but they say you have to use a backer rod if it is over a 1/4" deep......I may make something up and try it....it just sounds nuts...I also want to see if it really stretchs as far as they claim...
