Best Replacement Window

I was wondering if I could get opinions on what brand you would consider to be the best replacement window. I am opening a new showroom in Maryland and I am looking for a high quality replacement window that I can buy directly from the manufacturer.

Re: Best Replacement Window

There are probably going to be as many answers as there are windows out there. Who are you planning to sell to mostly? Contractor or HO? And will you be able to compete with the yards or big box stores. Think A lot of it depends too on what you have in the area to buy any what kind of turn around you can provide. And also how you can market them as being something better then what is already in your area.

Re: Best Replacement Window

Stay away from low end crap like silver line, pella, alside, and the rest of the garbage they sell at the supply houses.
High end vinyl windows that most pros's agree are the best would be the following:
Okna , Soft Lite, Sunrise, Gorell.
These windows are not only air tight and very energy efficient but they also look nice.

Re: Best Replacement Window

To be honest I have heard great reviews about Harvey windows by Harvey Building Products however I am slightly outside of their service area. I would like to find a similar company if there is one out there that I could work with.

Re: Best Replacement Window

I just installed 8 Harvey replacements 2 weeks ago, they are very nice windows. Definitely better than the Jeld Wen my boss uses I can't stand those windows and doors.

Re: Best Replacement Window

I mainly use Harvey windows.

I've installed Silverlines once. I wouldn't even recommend them for a tree fort. Horrible window.

I'm not a window guy but what is wrong with Pella? I thought they were a premium window. Very respectable name in my area. Or so I thought?

Re: Best Replacement Window

Pella make a horrible vinyl.
The only Harvey window I would use is the tribute which is ok. The performance numbers on Harvey leave a lot to be desired.
The u value is only a .30 on their double hung window. That's not very good.

Re: Best Replacement Window

I don't want to sound biased, so I'm not going to say any specific brands, but having experience as a company owner, sales person, and installer, I find that the best products are those with elite performance ratings both thermal and structural. High end double pane u values in the .25-.26 range, AI .05 or less, and DP 50 or higher.

Pella, like Anderson, makes some good (or decent) windows. But they also make a lot of junk too. I installed some vinyl windows in a home of a lady who used to work as a Manager in a Pella wood window factory. She said she would never buy a Pella window. It was a moment I would never forget.
