Bending AZEK Trim

I originally posted this in the Finish Carpentry area but I think it is more fitting in this section

Bending AZEK Trim and Moulding

I am trying to find another supplier who bends AZEK Trim.
We recently took the plunge and set up a bending station in our shop.We are offering the bending as an added service to stocking AZEK trims.
We are having the contractors bring us a template made of 1/2" material (osb, plywood) and we can bend around that.

I know there is a better set up out there somewhere...anybody ever come across one.

I am thinking we could set up a table (a large table) and lay out different arcs , then drill holes along the arcs that could have pins put in them , with 1/8" material , or 1/4" material bent around the pins and clamped so the AZEK could follow that. That way we could do the whole process from measurements (accurate ones of course) and not have the hassle of all the templates.Of course we would have the builder/contractor sign off on the measurements to avoid questions later.

I know there are about a million different arc dimensions on just windows but once you lay them out you have the holes should the same arc come up again.

What do you think....improvements/suggestions....no dumb-butt don't do it...tell me what you think. Would it be worth it or a waste of time to lay out everything,or better yet ...ever seen it done.

thanks,
Mike

Not a genius suggestion (you may already do this) but if it were me, I would ask what manufacture and model of window it’s for, than write it on their template. Save the templates in an organized fashion so you can easily find them. Log somewhere and some how what templates you have, so you can easily check. When someone calls, ask what kind of window it’s for and you may already have it, if not than you need a template and now have it for future use. It would take some space to save all the templates, but I don't see the other idea working all that well. It would take a lot of holes and some may be only a 1/4" off an existing hole. I would think templates and an accurate database system would be easiest and most efficient.

there are a few pvc companies out there that have model numbers of anderson windows that go with their molds. a great feature when you are dealing with elipticals and half rounds. its soldin pvc that never has to be pained, like azek. we just cut our azek but i am interested in learning how to heat and bend it.

So, from your experience, it sounds like you are leaning toward the dumbbutt side of my question....that helps. You think requiring the contractor to provide the template is the best way to go?

I would ask for the template to help save them some money. I'd also offer to make the template for them for a additional cost if they needed.

If you can get the patterns from the window distributor on hand then I might keep some of them. Hard to tell though. I do work for several different Contractors and they all use different windows. You might find that only a couple customer's use your service and they use the same windows..
