I do work for them quite often. As long as the person you are working with is on the ball it is okay. My ONLY problem is that they require more contractors insurance than most builders AND they require 500,000 policy on your vehicle. Depending on how your salesperson handles your bills you can get paid every week and have it direct deposited. Where are you located?

Charlotte, NC .. The regional sales manager seems pretty put together , now the local store manager is new to the job and seems overwhelmed. I did like the direct deposit information, but did not like the increase in insurance. Just wanted to get an idea overall. Txs

Don't know if you have competition there or not, but I have found that with the store I deal with (They use about 5 other framing crews) that if you jump when they say jump, you get the better jobs.
They just got a new manager in where I deal and he happens to have been a framer up til last year and he knows the same people I do so I am hoping to make it a life long "friendship", or at least as long as he works there.

Hah....years ago I used to deliver lumber for 84. I actually lived where the original store is in Ashtabula, Ohio on route 84. I don't know how they are for you guys, but the company is a pretty good one to work with for what I did. They don't have 300 employees per store like the big box stores, so I figure if you get in good with the guys there they will favor you some. They treated us like family and we were an independent company. I hope they are the same everywhere because 84 was one of those places that still felt like dealing with mom & pop because they seemed to give a squat.

You know....I delivered mostly for the Euchlid store. I only worked that job for about a year while I worked another job, both full time. It was a small trucking company, and I can't remember the name for the life of me. I will let you know as soon as I can remember....it has totally slipped me it was so long ago, and my better half can't remember either, lol!

Just outta curiosity, how do you apply to work with them as a sub? I don't need it, I can't keep up with what I have on my plate now.
But I gotta friend who just started out on his own(bout 10 months), and he is having a hard time getting started. I have thrown him some builders that I do not do any work for anymore but they just don't keep him busy. He does basic home improvement work but his real specialty is Wood Framing,Siding and Roofing. He refuses to go work for Home Depot or Lowes, which shows me he has a brain. But if anyone could let me know i'd really appreciate it, i'd love to see him succeed.
Thanks

thanks CheckmateOhio.. I get that feeling as well and they told me they are finding it hard to find reliable subs..
On the next question, I just call or email builders/companies I think could use my services. Some just say no or never respond, some are curious and ask for more information and some work out

AA, I always thought that the original store was on SR 84, Broward County, FL. What do I know? That was dad's 'go to' yard, mine too.
Another myth blown to H.

Good company, but as always it boils down to the crew at that location and their communication skilld with you. It's a great opportunity to be fed work though. I supplied product to 7 locations a few years back.
