Another Hardie Panel Question?

Hey guys, I got a job finishing up a porch roof coming up. Its a shed roof and the guy wants hardie panels on the two sides of the outside. Heres how I was planning on doing the bottom of the sheets. This is my first time working with the hardie panel siding.

Is there a different way you guys would do this?

Yea I would totally remove the 1x6 on the bottom.

The hardie needs to be atleast a 1/2" off the aluminum if you do end up going that route.

I think a azek 1x6 with a proper water table would look better.

Thanks sidingpro,
I acctually just read a good article on making one out of azek. Then I guess I could just wrap the bottom of the 2x4 wall first.
