Re: American Jewel Windows

I have seen the American Jewel window. it is a mid grade window at best; I am certainly not a fan of it, even the 1700 with heat gate or whatever it is. Windows are something to where the laws of "you get what you pay for" actually apply. i would take an american jewel over silverline or any pella vinyl window. pella and andersen make the worst vinyl windows available.
If you want something that will LAST and not something that will look and fell good the first year its installed and then begin a downward spiral, invest in a quality window.
Some higher quality windows are Okna ,Gorell, Sunrise Vanguard, and Uniframe.

Re: American Jewel Windows

yeah, rather strange name for a window company. that said,i have seen american jewel many times and its NOT viewed as a high quality window. I have seen them warp . however,as the other guys said, they certainly beat out silverline/american craftsman.

Re: American Jewel Windows

Simonton is a very dependable mid grade window.
Anything from Silverline is absolute low end and thats being nice.
plygem is a mid grade as well;i have used them. dependable, right up there with simonton. with simonton, you need at least the 5500 though.

Re: American Jewel Windows

I been using Exact by Metal industries for the past 15 years, very nice well made window, they come with most bells and whistles included in a basic window... the American Jewel I never heard about it...Today on the market so many Window manufactures, everyone who made any kind of plastic, started to make windows, and after taking the flop with one window brand, they create a new window brand, change the point of distribution, add a small change to a window and back in business they go, selling the same s%^t.

Re: American Jewel Windows

C'mon guys ..american jewel,Exact by MI !!!! are you kidding me. these are basic builder windows that every pick up truck contractor uses. they certainly have their place but when a homeowner whats real energy efficiency and something that will last,I cannot in good conscience use american jewel or Exact. thats just me.
If any of you guys saw some of the higher end windows such as Gorell,Sunrise, or Okna ,you would immediately see a big difference in quality.
