Re: Aluminum Coil Stock

I don't see how it coule be rebendable... or why someone would want to rebend coil stock. Once you crease the metal without pounding it flat it's always goign to be creased. You can't hide that.

If someone wants to rebend it does that mean they want to reuse it? They will take it off rebend it and put it back? I don't understand why someone would want rebendable coil stock. Training purposes could be the only reason I could think of. Then again you can just buy a sheet of rubber

Re: Aluminum Coil Stock

a simple "u must have misread it" would have sufficed there ole grumpy....which i did.....i should have said vinyl coil stock..some companies claim its rebendable...like pro-trim durobend...they also claim that if you dont over bend a 45 degree it will immediately unbend.....?????...just wondering if anyone has used these products and if they are what they claim...we have some 20 ft+ porch post we are considering some type of vinyl wrap.....also looked for some rubber bendable products grumpy...at a loss there....thanks all....

Super I was being dead serious... except the part about the rubber sheet. LOL that was a joke. Anyways if for some reasom you want to try that, Look into EPDM rubber. it's a roofing product. It will not hold any shape but it will bend.

I didn't see where they claimed it was rebendable. They explained that you had to overbend the coil 2 - 3 times or the coil would unbend. I have never used this but I can see what they are talking about.

Re: Aluminum Coil Stock

Why would you have, or want to rebend some coil stock anyway?

ric....at the bottom of the page http://www.alumapole.com/articleview...Page=2......it states "Mistakes - if a bend is made in the wrong direction simply bend it the
other way; no problem.
and then they claim "- Pro-Trim DuroBend® Vinyl Coil will immediately unbend 45° if it is not forcefully overbent as per above. This is normal. Conversely, Pro-Trim Coil will retain its bend indefinitely after the overbending procedure removes its elasticity.".....im reading that you can make a bend, look at it, make sure its right before you commit....im just thinking of the waste that could be prevented.....

not to mention the other claims they make..."Note: Say Goodbye to aluminum dents, scratches, pitting and rotting over pressure
treated wood."

Bob....cost????...if theres away to save on materials isnt that good????....

anyway....i was just looking for opinions or experience on this product....sorry bout my confusion guys and thanx for any input
