They Did What???

I arrive at a remodel job I am doing (to start the trim out) and see the "techs" from Verizon. I go inside see Mr. HO ~ he is PO'ed! He tells me these guys have been here since 10AM (it's about 3PM now)...the "supervisor" has been to the house 3-4 times..etc etc etc.

Looking at the techs(2 men), I could see why:
New hardhats
New toolbelts
New Tools

As I start wrapping up at about 6, they are just leaving.

ALL they had to do was bring an OH drop to the house and mount their NID/demark.

Looks good, right?...except that lower hook they used ~ it's MINE...waiting for the POCO to reconnect.

I guess they couldn't decide what edge to line the boxes up with, so they shoot for "off-center".

WTF???

That ain't no ground connection.

Woo-hoo. Nice phone bond. Used your raceway to support their wire on the way down to the NID too.

In the words of Donald Trump, "You're fired!". That's what I'd tell those phone guys.

Are services in EMT normal in your area? Never saw ne'er a one in my parts.

No...LOL.

MY choice was SE ...GC says "No"...
next was Schd 80..GC says "No"....
next was the EMT..GC says "OK" ....all that's left is RMC LOL.
I'd be happy to do that too ~ for a price

I'm trying to decide what to do:
- Wait for my final/service inspection and see what the EI says
- Call Verizon and tell them to get their CRAP off my work...and if it isn't removed by final, I will remove it by "whatever means"

Thank God, I pre-wired the interior....I can just imagine the mess if these 2 clowns were set free inside a freshly painted home ....LMAO

More fun to follow when the Cable bozos arrive

I have no idea

I should have known the circus was in town when I saw the 2 of them moving the extension ladder ...LMAO.

When I cut the service in, one of the helpers saw me grab the ext. ladder and put his hand on it ...all I said was "DON'T" ...he probably thought he was gonna get "zapped" or something ...he watched as I gracefully moved the ladder solo all over the place. Later on, I told him "Put it away". He grabbed the ladder and moved it as if he had ballet lessons Noice

I'd probably just cut their drop off my insulator, and leave a little FU note on the insulator. I wrote a note and stapled it up with NM staples in an apartment building mechanical room several months ago that read, "Another Mickey Mouse job by Comcast". I swear, they'll hire anyone clean-cut enough to ring a customer's doorbell, skilled or otherwise.

I can't ...it's on the driveway side....the line would drape across the drive and eventually the sidewalk.
It'll have to be a clean cut

Ain't that the truth, in my area Verizon just got busted and some jobs shut down because almost all of their workers were illegals. They even showed a picture in the paper of some of them towing a pindle hitch wire trailer on just a 2" ball tied on it with twine

Re: They Did What???

It took 8 hours for this?!?

Why 2 newbies together? I guess putting each with an experienced guy makes too much sense.

Some of the sloppiest work I've ever seen was by phone and/ or cable techs from Verizon and Comcast.

Re: They Did What???

I'm sorry....it wasn't 8 hours....it was MORE!

Stopped by at the home yesterday to drop off material. Mr. & Mrs. HO were there looking at various things (like my outlet/switch plates that are ALL being changed to Stainless Steel). The HO's inform me that the phone in the new house is NOW the same number as their old house (as planned), BUT, in the process the rocket scientists have killed the phone at their old house (same town).
Seem the newbs went orange-to-white at the pole and other assorted errors. This left the HOs with NO phone(anywhere) for 10 - 12 hours.

I took this opportunity to "shine" informing the HO's that I had "pre-wired" their home (not part of the contract) for cable/Tele/DSL/Satellite. They looked at me with the "dog hears a high pitched noise" look and an audible "HUH?" . I explained that EACH TV or comp. location had BOTH a "cable" and a "CAT5" wire....(still looking at me sideways)...and this meant no one would need to run any wires IN the house ~ it was all done....this they understood and they were happy

Re: They Did What???

You only work half days until 6 O'clock?

That was a very wise decision to go ahead and run phone and cables to each location, but will you be getting paid for that now?

I'm sure you will but I just had to ask.
