Poor Workmanship
I saw this around the corner from one of the jobs I am on. Not sure if this has been inspected or if it ever will. I believe these homeowners had the house painted and a new A/C system installed along with the new electrical service.

Yeah... yuk. Looks like the extent of the service upgrade only included the load side meter cable? The can and the line side cable look older.

I doubt it. I don't think you'll ever find anything that has ever failed for poor workmanship unless it also had other violations. The code doesn't really address what good and bad workmanship is, so there's no legal way to fail for bad workmanship.

I think so. I've done it. Just a few plastic anchors. Not like you're through-bolting to the inside of the flue.

I can't believe that you do not have to put the entrance cable in conduit. Here we can only use SEU cable after going through a disconnect and then only in areas acceptable to romex. The riser above the meter can has to be in RMC, in some areas, and in RNMC in others. Then SEU can be underground.

Have you got a shot of where the SE enters the building?
I am thinking it was a siding redo ?

Mounting a disco to a brick wall is fine ~ what's INSIDE that brick wall is a chimney

At least he gave it a nice sweeping 90, he must know something.
And weed wacker string is not conductive, so what's the likliness of anyone ever cursing this installation.

Why do you feel that conduit is required to protect SE cable? I have been asked to sleeve SE cable ONCE and it was behind a hedge that the inspector worried would have a hedge trimmer hit the cable. Other than that I have not seen any physical damage to SE cable. UV damage is a different story.
