Re: Leaky Service

I'll need a larger desk if I bring in a 25" monitor and those new Mac's are nice and affordable. Maybe I'm just earning more money now and they just seem cheaper. But they are real nice.

I am learning a lot from this thread. Like CT's mounted on a roof?! I never heard of that. I am also curious to see what a legal jumped-out meter device looks like. Got any pictures of that?

And though u can't see it, this set up is within' 3' of traffic (no curb).

Re: Leaky Service

That's not an insulator rack. That's absolutely 100% positively a CT rack. THey're on roofs of stores and commercial buildings all over the place around here. It is not an insulator rack. That's a CT rack for sure.

Putting a jumper in an old can is one typical method to refeed that equipment when you upgrade to a larger service with CT metering. Don't need that plug-on meter anymore if you run the conductors through the new CT's first.

Re: Leaky Service

Here's a service at one of my customer's that's pretty much identical to the picture Mag posted. It's a Dariy Queen store. The original 100 amp meter can was jumpered out when they brought in a 3 phase service. They put a CT rack on the 3 phase mast, ran the old service through those CT's too, and put a CT meter with a little 1" CT secondary conductor mast from that CT meter up to the CT's on the roof:

Hmmm. Like I've previously noted, I've never seen it done like that before. But ay, you learn something new everyday.

That green stuff looks like algae to me.

Algae or grease, it's still bad.
