Quite impressive! This would surely go on the "wall of shame" for hack jobs

Re: HO Electrician

What is with the change in height of the molding? Is that caulk between the two?

Who wants to bet that is a load bearing wall? Err...was one....

Re: HO Electrician

Looks like a doorway and a pass through were combined and the switch was between them.

Now that you say it, I can see it being that. Though I thought even a hack could make things at least *look* better (referring to the multi-height opening).

Re: HO Electrician

This HO saved over $1,000 by doing it like this. A thousand dollars is too much you say? Not after an electrician has to go in there and fix this crap for resale.

Re: HO Electrician

I had a homeowner who fancied himself knowledgeable with electrical things. Mr. Know-It-All reversed the white/black wires with everything he touched. I'm not talking wrong sides of an outlet, I'm talking the white was the hot lead. He also had a rodent problem, rats and mice were chewing the housing off of wires, so he wrapped problem areas with metal tape. It must have worked because the rodents moved to the pex water lines after that.

While he may be an inept buffoon, the Decora switch shows he has class.
