Re: Could You Make This Bend?

Not much to it. We use EMT to build airboat cages and rakes.

Give it a little twist....kind of like loading keys on a ring ...it's small pipe, the straps will straighten it out

Re: Could You Make This Bend?

A very long time ago I was a welder. We had fabricating machines including rollers. I believe the end of the rollers had a die for pipes. This could have been done on a machine.

I also worked in a place with a lot of tubing benders up to 4" thinwall steel (think exhaust headers). This was much later. All of the airboats that we built in the 60's-70's were all done with hand benders. We also hand bent the T stock 'runners' in custom built shoes.

I have found a 2nd picture that shows the end of this run going into a box.

Go back to page 1 of this thread to see it.

Re: Could You Make This Bend?

Concentric bend formula: 1.732 x Radius / the # of shots

Example: Round structure has a diameter of 20' ft.
1.732 x 120" (10') = 208 inches
208 / 60 shots @ 1.5 degree bends
= 3 inches apart.

Mark conduit every 3 inches for 60 (1.5 degree) bends. Comes out nice.
