I was doing some electrical work in a milking parlor one day, and the vet came to do a minor surgery on a cow with a twisted stomach. They latched the cow at the end of one of the milking lanes, and just set up one of those 500 watt halogen work lights to cut into the cow's gut. Pretty low tech.

The existing threaded rod leveling system, ceiling mounts and trolley rails were reused, removed live rail, welded L brackets inside chrome rails to mount new fixtures. Painted to match new.

Nice.
I have replace surgery lights like those in a vets office a few times.
I saved one of the Frankenstein ones.....just because I thought it was cool. I'll throw it out some day when I get tired of tripping over it.
The newer ones had electronic ballasts and pivoted from a single canopy so they only weighed a fraction of the originals.

That's a pretty poor attitude or are you just trying to be contrary?

Who asked you and is your opinion somehow worth more than mine?
What I have stated are simply facts. I am sure that if you THINK about it you can come up with your own examples to prove it.

dezwit, you'll get used to 220.
Sky, what did you do with the old fixtures?
Man, I'd have those suckers over my work bench for when I dissect a 2-stroke engine.

One kid wants to make lighted end tables, another wants the metal frames for his hot rod projects. for now they are taking up precious space in the shop.

He did it, with a little help. Lighted end tables. Converted to standard base bulb.

That is actually kind of cool. Not my style, but pretty neat. I'm glad to read that you changed out to standard bulb. I was picturing some kind of super hot table surface like Benihana or something.
