Automatic Light Switch?

Found this after receiving call from 94 year old customer that her outside dusk to dawn spot light was not working!

Yellow cord goes up the wall, over 2 garage doors, along 2nd wall and into receptacle. White romex plugged into receptacle goes to light outside of garage.

Been this way for 30 years, apparently original owner did not want the light to be turned off! By the way the yellow cord was unplugged, reason for light not working.

Take them with you to work. I took my older daughter under a house not too long ago. As she was cutting up her elbows and getting cob webs in her hair she got a new appreciation for the things this family has. Once we climed out I told her this is what daddy has to do to make sure we can keep the lights on. Than I shut up. Point taken. I gotta say as a side note, I really enjoy figuring out ways that are sucessful in teaching my kids lessons. The wofe on the other hand....hopeless

why not just install a vacancy switch? Here in Cali they are required for any bathroom fixture that is not high efficiency .(Ca title 24)

Simple, an occupancy sensor switch costs more than a mouse trap.

Plus a fancy switch would mean an electrician would have to come out to install it and there goes another hundred bucks.

Doing it like this makes it a whole lot simpler.
