4000 amp service

This is a 208Y/120 Volt, 4000 Amp, Service at a clothing distribution warehouse. The company I work for does maintenance/ service type work here. I was in this area looking for a panel to feed a 208 volt receptacle for a copying machine.

Power Companys transformer room (locked).

One side of the equipment room

The other side of the same room with the main disconnect.

No room for whoops factor here!

Distribution panel disconnects

More disconnects

Even more disconnects

More equipment

The 480 panel feeds a 300 KVA transformer

What I should have said is that this service is good for up to 4000 amps. I don't know what's behind the main disconnect switch. Our company did not install the service.

Is there enough working space between the main and that transformer?

The disconnect is not directly in front/ behind that transformer. I believe that's a portable table in front of the MD in this picture.

Wouldn't the fireman know where the main disconnect is proir to there being a fire? I think they would have a annual/ bi-manual fire inspection/ review especially if there were any new brass coming on to the department.

If there are fuses ahead of the feeders, they're in the locked room with power companys equipment.

Yes, that crap was on the transformer before I got there.

I was just in the neighborhood looking for a supply source for new a dedicated line and thought I'd snap off some pics.

Nice pictures. Is that a main switch or a tie over switch by the transformer?

factory 90's

Installer must not of had a conduit bender - it looks like they used all factory 90's. Aesthetically I do not like using them.

What's with the LB in 4th picture? They obviously had a bender, because there is a 90 coming out of the CT cab.
