Re: What Happened Here

Unbelievable. It took me a few to find the problem areas but I found them. Supporting a load is pretty important if you're going to be a builder.

thx for sharing the pics..

Re: What Happened Here

After analyzing the photos in question ,I've come to the conclusion that its not the beam that is too short,, its that the building is too big.

What a mess, glad i'm here and thats there.

Re: What Happened Here

Obviously these problems need to be fixed. But how much danger are the rest of the subs in while working under those conditions? What are the chances that those beams come tumbling down on a plumber, or an electrician, or an HVAC technician?

Re: What Happened Here

He most likey bought the "magic lam beams".. They support themselves...you just toe nail them into a stud and presto... a little drywall and your off !

Seriously... I hope a call was made to an inpector.

That is just plain crap. The REAL problem is that it does not appear to be just one thing... this is a parade of serious issues that some homeowner is going to have to deal with... or worse, some one could get hurt.

I think the building inspector is going to be going off on that guy. His words are going to be."you got to be freaking kidding me."

Re: What Happened Here

wallmaxx,

It appears obvious that they(the ingnoramous') cut the beam short b/c of the picture supplied of 220" - at least they marked the beam to show how short they are., I'm surprised they didn't haul out a sander to sand that spot off.

I hope the inspector red tags it. Then go over and get pictures of the tag.

Re: What Happened Here

Damn, dude, that's just horrible... one suburban, one teenager learning to back into the garage, one post gets moved, one beam falls down. Not a pretty picture...

Re: What Happened Here

HOW did that pass?? Its in a friggin earthquake zone?? Another internet-certified-inspector, perhaps? And how come that post it tight to the wall at the top but not the bottom? WTF is going on here? this isnt the same beam as the first pic, is it? They would have had to have moved the wall or something.
