Huge deck and headache
This deck we built for a realtor on a re-sell house. She wanted it quick and cheap, so 7 days and 5k (just labour) later she got it. After a week of chasing her down and her avoiding and ignoring our phone calls she didn't want to pay because she didn't feel safe on it, it was the wrong material on the deck, 5/4 x 6 brown treated decking on treated 2x8 joists @ 16" o/c, and two rows of blocking, which is exactly what it said in the contract and the project spec. sheet, both of which she signed. Only after the inspector came and told her that the only reason they make 5/4 decking is to put it on decks did she grudgingly pay. Needless to say, no more workey for her.
The inspector made us put the tie plates on too... i think thet're ugly, but can't argue with him.

There it is! Thought someone riped you off or something!
Nice, I see why he made you use plates and hangers. I usually cut the post back so as to allow the joist to sit on it and nail it in from behind. cant wait to see the railings

ohh, cut the post out so it runs up the backside of the beam like?
I was going to do all the railing and put siding on the entire place for her... but not after I discovered the stupid games she likes to play

Like I said, 7-8 days work, she supplied all material, I dont think 5k is too bad... was giving her a bit of a deal as she said she had lots of work, but I dont want any part of it now.
