Elevated Bluestone Deck Causing Staining On Stucco

Hi all
we have an elevated bluestone deck that is causing staining on the stucco at the front of the deck. The staining is obviously coming from under the bluestone, and not as a result of water run-off.

We'd be interested to hear if anyone has dealt with this before, how, and how succesful it was.

Does anyone have any ideas as to a) what is causing it, and b) how to prevent this, other than sealing the deck?

I have a client with a slate covered patio with the exact same problem.

That looks to me like concrete pavers as opposed to bluestone....but my guess is that the stain is caused by that angle iron bleeding rust onto that wall....At least that looks like an angle iron to me from here.....Sure Klean makes a Ferrous sp? cleaner that can be fairly effective....I've heard of guys using a poultice on tough stains as well....I do know these can be tough to remove, some guys just want to use muriatic, although in some cases this has been found to be the culprit. But you do have to remove the source, and unless I'm way off, at least it won't be the "bluestone"....good luck!
