Big addition rescue
This poor lady hired a guy to build a large addition to her new trailer. After 7 months of him fumbling around and doing things in weird/wrong ways she told him to go away and asked us if we could fix it and finish it for her. Heres what we did.
The first pic is the beam supporting the roof over the edge of the deck, 2 joints right across from each other in the middle of a good 10' span!
Second pic is the same beam, notice how much bearing the one part has, or doesnt have, on the post. All posts and beams were this way. I put in proper beam members and built up the posts to give proper bearing.
3rd pic shows that same beam running 6' into the wall of the mud room.
Nothing wrong with it i guess... just odd. Not to mention the weird wacky furring he put on it.

some before pics.
after fixing the beam and posts, we cladded them with plywood to hide the ugly built up 2x6 posts and to line up with the sheathing on the mudroom.

LOL, I wondered about putting that pic in here.
I tell the guy "unless you wanna be in this pic, you better move out of the way".. so he moves over to the post and poses.

Nice job! How long did it take to wrap it up? Can't believe that the last guy only got that far in 7 months! Pretty easy to see why though; he really didn't know what he was doing.
I'll bet your customer is thrilled to have it finally done.

Cool, now we all know.
That is a small town,eh?
Looks like lots of very pretty
very empty country around there.

Jason, we've got 117 hrs billed to her (2 guys) and no, he didnt have any idea, there were so many stupid little things to fix on it. Like the roof sheathing hanging over the fascia an inch instead of drip edge, had to cut it all back and install drip edge, pain in the a$$. Door openings were too small etc. And apparently he's "been doing this for long time".

Hey Shane
Great work. You're just up the road from Nelson, huh? Last time I was in your neck o' the woods was 27 years ago.
Welcome to the site.

It's guys like this that give our industry a bad name. The sad part is most homeowners wouldn't know the difference.
Good job putting it all back together. Looks great.
