Summertime Decks

Here's a couple of decks I built this summer -
Redwood on top, followed by Cedar, followed by TimberTech

And this is my version of flying a kite! Got a crane to do the heavy lifting (6x12x26'), I just got to steer.

Re: Summertime Decks

What type of railing did you use with the timbertech? It doesn't look like the standard kit. Just curious as it looks a lot better than the kit.

Re: Summertime Decks

All the decks look great. I would like to say the second pic the homeowner chose a excellent color for the house and i like the roof also. I really like that second house.

The top/bottom rails are TT "builder board" - just their 2x4 stock. Why they call it builder board, I dunno! Top rail was 2x4 ripped in half to create a slimmer profile. The balusters are 1/2" powder coated steel sitting in holes in top/bottom rails (I love my drill press!) and the cap rail is TT 5/4x6 deck board. Posts are pt with the TT sleeve and skirt.

This house was in the Lane County Tour of Homes this year. It's a custom builder who's partnered with 4 other builders to create a multi-hundred unit subdivision, on a fairly steep hill. I've been working on getting into this project for a year - the subdivision is $500K and up custom homes, 90% of the houses will need either a deck or a front porch, due to hillside, and the subdivision is 3 minutes from my house. I'm now building all the decks for two of the 5 builders.

I appreciate the kudos, guys.

Take it easy,

Mac

Redwood and Cedar deck pics are from a professional photographer who uses a remote controlled digital camera on a 30 ft. boom to replicate aerial shots - don't know what type of camera he uses... bottom shot of the TimberTech deck and the pic of the craned beam are with my camera, a Canon PowerShot A620.

Thanks,

Mac

I don't know that you'd want to pay me what I want to pay me!

Although, if I find myself in Toronto for a vacation, I'll definitely look you up. I'm impressed with the gallery of projects you've got on your website. It would be nice to meet (in person) someone else who takes craftsmanship to the next level.
