Actually, he's a great guy. Gave me my first paycheck (OK, cash under the table) as a carpenter. A while back, he and I used work side by side, and I learned a ton from him. Then he put down the hammer and picked up a cell phone and started going after bigger jobs. I really enjoyed working with him, not so much working for him... When I told him that I filed my own business certificate and got some business cards printed up, he said "Great. Take the Makita slider and the Paslode finish guns. You'll need them more than I will."
He's always been very generous to me and I'm grateful.

I still do work for him when it makes sense for both of us. Every year or two, we'll have a big blow-out over something silly, then not speak for a couple of months. Then one of us needs something, swallows pride, and makes the awkward phone call. Then it's on again like nothing happened.

It's just a question of philosphy. His business model is not always compatible with the way I'd like to work. As a result, I've got splinters, a sore shoulder, and a resume of work I'm proud of. He's got more stress, high blood pressure, and healthier bank account.

I've questioned alot of things about him, but never his integrity.

Re: Mahogany Bar

Beautiful, beautiful job, Jeremy.

And now for the (minor) critique.

One thing I would change in the design for next time is on the frame and panel sections.

I would make the top rails of each section wider, - - so they don't visually disappear so much under the recess of the bar-top.

Just my opinion though, - - I've never been 100% satisfied with any job (especially my own).

Anyway, - - GREAT JOB!!
