You are right, I need to re-think this with the highly corrosive treated material that's out now. Bill |

Re: "High End" Stair Rail
You can use sill seal styrofoam roll as a barrier. Then again, you could eliminate the PT and just use the sill seal.

Re: "High End" Stair RailQuote:
Thanks Leo, After seeing ARI001's post, I was thinking of just using the sill seal and nixing the treated the next time I do one, whenever that might be, things have been real slow around here. |

I've used 30# felt just for the added protection, always seem to have some around so it's an inexpensive step.

Re: "High End" Stair Rail
Perhaps it is because of the nature of commercial buildings being remodeled frequently but the track is commonly shot down w/o anything under it in every comm building I've been involved in. Also though we also put at least a 10-15 mil vapor barrior or a vapor barrier like creteseal onto the concrete as a sealer.
Was curious what others do in others part of the country. |

Re: "High End" Stair Rail
I have to say they do look good but to the trained eye, I see alot of mistakes in the picture on the rail's. Starting with the spiddles take a close look at them. noticing things like that will make you a better trim carpenter.

Re: "High End" Stair Rail
Simply incredible, I can't say I've ever seen anything like it (the stairs) Are you sure this wasn't a homeowner project? I've never seen anything this bad except maybe in an old hunting cabin.

Re: "High End" Stair Rail
Out of curiousity, has anyone attempted to add balusters/post/railing to a similar set of stairs. I'm wondering how you would build the stairs out to receive the balusters if the stairs were open underneath (no walls). Any pics?

Re: "High End" Stair Rail
If someone didn't have to pay for that kind of crappy work, it would almost be funny. Instead, it's a crying shame.
