Cabinets look great. Is that just a magnetic catch you use to hold the doors shut? How ackword is it to use the doors?
Normally for all the new flat screens, we mount the tv's in the cabinet with extendable wall mounts and have a removeable frame the tv sits in with a 1/4" to 1/2" gap between the tv and frame. We just have to be sure to supply ventilation to the back of the tv.

Thanks JC. And welcome to the zoo we call home.
Yes we have some small recessed mag catches that can adjust in and out. The doors are not awkward at all to operate. I wish we could use the newer slides without the cable and don't have the roller that can touch the front of the door but it is a great solution for covering a large opening with minimum depth.
Why don't you post some pictures of one of those et centers you are describing? We would love to see them.
And take a minute to fill out your profile and put your location in your heading. Then we all can see who you are and know where you are at. It's a thing around here.

So, how do I post pictures? If I click the "insert image" button, it wants an http address. Do I have to host the pictures somewhere else for it to work? Thanks

Yes. The easiest way is to upload them to a free photo site like photobucket. Then use the URL from there when you insert.

Problem solved. Here's a few pics of the entertainment center I built for myself last year.
And a pic of one of the end tables
I hope it's ok to post them in your thread or feel for to move them to a separate one if you'd like.

How'd you do the clamshell? Bent laminations or just thin plywood?

Thin plywood. The shell is actually just the one veneer face and one ply stapled to the trusses and then one more ply glued to the back after it was finished.
