Current Job, Mantle...

Not much a photo, but this is the upper "half" and you are looking at it upside down, the opening is for a flat screen TV. Mostly pine and Ultralite MDF. Still have to put panels on the "columns", build the cornice, and other minor trim details...

Just snapped a shot before I left.

I will get some good photos when she is up.

I can't take credit for it all, I am helping to build it with a GC buddie of mine, this is his shop.

This is how she sits waiting for a few more things to be done, such as the trim around the TV and what not. It is getting Faux finished to some sort of stone theme...

Tommorrow a frieze is going in and then flat crown/rake mold is being taken up into the coffer at the top.

Next week the lower half is coming back out for the masons to do their thing.

Looks very nice!

For brick mantels, I used to set mine and let the brick/stone masons build up to it and tuck behind the face.

I am not 100% sure what is going back there, but IIRC it will be solid marble...
