Re: What Would YOU Do
I used some guys ladder the other day with out asking. Didn't feel bad at all.
Six guys (different trades) working in one room and he abandons his ladder right in the center of the room for at least three hours. Everyone danced around it all day - and tripped over one another in the process. Before lunch, I need to count some joist hangers up high, move his ladder two feet, hop up two steps... and that's when he comes in. Loses his s*** on me. Says "you need to learn to respect others tools." I respond "You need to respect those working around you and keep your workspace clean." If you want your tools respected, show that you respect them - and have respect for those around you. That guy was pissed and on the face of things, had the right to be (it was his ladder). But, everybody in the room considered him to be in the wrong. All had my back, they were all annoyed that he just ditched his ladder in their workspace and noone would have wanted me to bring my own ladder into that tight area. |

Re: What Would YOU Do
Personally I don't need to borrow the tools, I have them. They are mine and with me. If I don't have what I need today, I'll get that tomorrow. And don't like to give for somebody else. If somebody took your hammer drill , you got it back with broken bit, or get back your patching knife chipped and dirty.

Re: What Would YOU Do
I suppose it would depend on the situation. In terms of subcontractors, we work with the same company's house after house so were typically on a first name basis with everybody so borrowing tools isnt a obscene thing to do. However I try very hard to make sure borrowing tools doesnt happen. If some clown came in and wasnt acting up to par any number of guys wouldnt have a problem setting them straight. We keep it real and it results in one of the best balanced crews ive ever been a part of.
