Makita is hit and miss. Some people have problems some don't. That alone is unacceptable.......to me.

I yell the same thing but nothing happens. So I have to walk and get it.

As for which brand good luck trying to get everyone here to agree which is best we all have different needs and different brands we like.

Me personally I'm invested in Milwaukee tools.

Battery technology changes all the time. A 3 AH battery may be unreliable when it comes out, but the problem may have been fixed with the newer 5 AH battery. No telling what's going to happen until you buy and use them.

OTOH, some manufacturers are better at qualifying their battery supplier.

Makita batteries sucked for years, compared to some of the others.

That's the qualifying I was talking about. I think there is an old stick style battery Makita drill around here somewhere, but it never was all that great.

Re: What Cordless Power Tools To Buy! Need Heaps Of Help!! Please

I loved makita for a while, had issues with the batteries (they used to die if you OVER discharged them, you know, keep pulling the trigger to finish the cut or drive the screw). I swore off of them for a couple years (I'm sure you could find posts on this forum of me hating on them) I bought a bunch of milwaukee m18 tools to try them out. This year I sold all the milwaukee m18 tools, they were Meh at best. Makita is just better.

Battery issues have been fixed and even if you have the old style batteries that haven't been "fixed" you can prevent it from dying by not over discharging them, when the tools stops charge the battery, don't try to force it through the cut/drilling/etc.

The dewalt tools are great tools, love the cordless framing gun, 7.25" miter saw and the OMT is tough to beat.

Can't stick to just 1 platform if you want to have the best.

Agreed. I use Milwaukee, Mafell, Metabo, and Dewalt. Can't get all your needs with one platform.

Well that settles it your going to have to skip getting battery powered tools and go all corded.

You will want to stock up on 100ft extension cords

I still prefer corded - you just can't get the performance with batteries, but that could be changing.

Ryobi cordless for drilling hinge pilot holes? I'd do that.

Corded? Only for vacuums and breaker hammers.

On my present bath remodeling job only corded tools I've used so far is my wet saw and mixing drill. I couldn't cut the tile with my snapper without chipping otherwise the wet saw wouldn't have been used.

The only other thing I'll be plugging in will be my miter saw and maybe a table saw. The only thing I need to upgrade to the performance of a corded would be my circular.

The circ saw is the big one. I'm waiting to see how they shake out.

Cordless dry wall screw guns have been around a long time - corded is just more comfortable to me.

The double battery makita rear handle is every bit as powerful as a corded worm drive saw. I imagine the flexvolt that will be out shortly will perform equally as well.

It's WAY better than the 7.25" fuel saw and way better than all other 6.5" cordless saws I've used (dewalt 20v, makita 18v, milwaukee m18)

Only break out the corded if I have to get through some serious concrete or have to drill a ton of holes
