Think what you gotta do is zoom out so a dullard like me can see the big picture.

Gutter Was there before I put the undercover deck stuff. Dripping from the deck was running down my siding. Other gutter catches everything that runs down the roof that drips between
The decking and stops it from dirtying the bottom
Of my siding. Stops the splattering . Now ?

The header is floating. That is, it's doing nothing but filling in the hole. The jack studs shouldn't continue up, that space above the window with the "jack" cripples should be filled with the header.

Re: The Wall Of SHAME!

Went to quote redecking this balcony with composite. Told her I'll quote a total rebuild, but I'm not comfortable walking around on this thing. It wobbled when I stepped out on to it.

Beams were three 2*4s resting on top of 4*4s with nothing more than toe nails to hold them in place.

And what they heard was they will need to find someone else to put composite decking on it for them.

You are probably correct, but I sent the bid anyway. Did get some follow-up questions from them after I sent it, which is generally a buying sign, but who knows?

Anyway, more power to whoever wants to deck that thing, but it ain't gonna be us! Ten years ago, I would have taken this job just to be working, but there is too much work these days to be walking around on that deathtrap.
