Veto Pro Pack

Anyone use the Veto Pro Pac's?
They appear to be a good piece of kit. Wondering which would be good for a framing crew, the open tote XXL or the zip sided XXL model? I'm thinking the open tote.

I've got something similar to their open top,
and that's the way to go for a carpenter.
Mine's starting to show some serious wear
and I've been looking at these
but they still look a bit salty to me.
Watching for some kind of sale or deal.

Re: Veto Pro Pack

I worked with a Master Carpenter who used one, the kind of guy that really treasures his tools.

He loves his and I could see why. It has place for everything and everything has a place.

The XXL (which I believe is the longest model) has a couple of great features.

One feature I love is the ability to keep a framing square in one of it's sides with an opening tha allows the short end of the square to poke out of the bag. The square is alwasys kept up and protected.

There's a $30. price drop down to about 170.

Personally, I'm getting the XXL (it can carry a variety of pry bars, a 2' Level, small hand saw, etc...).

man, I don't know how i missed these things, damn handtools are the biggest wasted shelving space culprit in my trailer, I could easily free up 2 or 3 shelves of loose hand tools for bulkier items with a few of these, who carries them?

I bought the regular model at a JLC show 4-5 years ago and the long one two years ago. Granted I don't work in the field that much but the bags have almost no wear. You will only pay for the quality once.

Re: Veto Pro Pack

Doug the long bag you bought, is it the zip-up version or the open top version? and whats your opinion on the two if you don't mind me asking?
I'm thinking that zip might be very annoying when i need to just dive into the truck to grab one tool at the end of the day for a split second!

Both of mine have zippers, sometimes I will leave the tops open if a drill is sticking out. I like the zippers in case the bags tip over even though it hardly ever happens with their flat molded base.

Here's the only problem that I see, the bags fit way to much stuff-they get very heavy. If you don't have enough hand tools to fill most of the slots you will spend a fortune to fill them.

I have one, and agree that it is way too heavy. I stopped using mine after getting tired of lugging it every day.

Well I've gone and done it. My first tool purchase of '08. After much deliberation I went for the OT-XXL. Just couldn't see those zippers on the XXL lasting.
I will let all you guys know how it performs for me.

Cheers

Re: Veto Pro Pack

Well its arrived this morning

Coincidentally I am back at the shop with the truck and tools, waiting for an appointment with the account, (thats the excuse).
First impressions, it appears very well made and heavy duty. The shoulder strap and clips also seem very robust. It looks worth the price which is always a good start.
I have started to load the hand tools in and there is bags of room. After a week or so I expect to get the arrangement for everything how I want it.
Negatives : It does appear heavy, but I would imagine when filled it will be no heavier than half of the other equipment we have to shift, and it will save on the trips to the truck.
Also a zip pocket deep enough to keep my rafter book in would have been good. At the moment I have put it in a sealable bag and tucked it into one of the pockets.

I'll keep you informed on its performance.

Hmmm...weight vs multiple tool boxes spread out all over the place and many trips back and forth from the truck.

Hmmm?

Give me the weight and organization + one trip any day!

Man...now you have to fill it up with...more tools!

Re: Veto Pro Pack

Bone saw you can pick up the tool pac at www.vetopropac.com, and let customer service know you are getting one and they will probably send you a shirt. I got the XXl-F with the zips. It is awesome, and it really isn't that heavy. It is so well constructed and evenly distributes the weight of the tools.
