Sanding Belts In The Florida Heat?![]() I've had a hard time with belts for my belt sander. I put a new one on and it lasts about three minutes. The first one was on my sander for awhile but fairly new. The second was a Makita just taken out of the package. The sander is kept in my trailer and the new belt was in my garage. It gets hot in both places. They fail at the seam. Is there a brand that stands up to the heat? |

Re: Sanding Belts In The Florida Heat?
The humidity has a big affect on the life of belts, and heat doesn't help
either, however, if the belts are breaking at the joint, that is a separate issue. Although extended excessive heat can dry out the glue and tape causing the belts to break, there also could be a bad lot of belts. First question I'd ask, are they butt (tape) joint, or a lap joint? |
