Retrofit Sheer Wall Nailing?
All right, here is another retrofit for non corrosion resistant metal in contact with pressure treated wood question, since your advice on the anchor bolts was so good.
Now it appears the the shear nailing into the mud sill is not corrosion resistant either. There should be HD galvanized nails, but their not. How do I know, considering they're covered up by the stucco siding? Well, I am assuming(I do know what they say about assumptions) that they used the same nails on the outside as the interior ponywall sheer nailing. So what could one do, knowing that those nails will be good for nothing after the passage of time, yes we do want this place to last more than 10 years. Of course we could demo the bottom 12" of stucco and nail it off, but that would be costly. Any bright ideas for attaining an equivilent shear value with out removing the stucco? |
