Re: Quick Siding Question

Don't know, for me the most accurate way is to call up subs in your area and find comparable bids. The second best way is to look in an estimating book. The only two I know of is the Means Estimator and the Craftsmen National Estimator. They list square foot prices and give you a multiplier to make it accurate for your area. I can't remember the price we charged last time I sided a house, but it would be different than whatever the competitive price is in your area.

Re: Quick Siding Question

National Estimator (including materials):
Solid vinyl SF 2.00
Add for insulated siding backer panel SF 0.35
Vinyl window and door trim LF 2.46
Vinyl siding and fascia system SF 2.53

Of course they are not adding in for scaffolding or pump jacks that will be required - I would easily add 25 - 50% or more for working over 9 feet as it becomes time consuming fast.

Ignore the multiplier - it was +3 for Portland & - 7 to 11 elsewhere in Maine. Please remember that these are simple benchmarks & do not account for your markup or margin. Please refer to all the other posts that go into "How do I price X?" The best one I saw said $40 & then take that money & get Michael Stone's book & a cup of coffee at Starbuck's while you read it.
