One Sexy Stiletto
My carpenter has one of these...and I'm thinking of getting this for myself for X-mas
http://store.stilettotools.com/Detail.bok?no=57 I absolutely love framing with this hammer. It feels ridiculously light but it packs a mean punch. I'll load a 3" nail, slam it and drive it home in one swing...awesome Any of you have this? Anything you don't like about it? Any hammer you prefer over this one? |

I use the 15oz Ti-Bone. Best hammer ever, in my 28 years of swingin'

Re: One Sexy Stiletto
If I was still framing, I'd have a titanium hammer - either Stiletto or Daluge. Stiletto has the benefit of replacement heads. For as much as I use a hammer, a FUBAR works just fine.
The price works itself out either in increased speed/energy in building or reduced medical bills for a blown out elbow or wrist. Mac |

Re: One Sexy Stiletto
I have a question about these. I framed for ten years. I mostly used my hammer to beat things in place. For nailing I used a gun. I m just curious.

Vaughn Titanium - I like the nail set better plus it's almost a third of the price.

Re: One Sexy Stiletto
I've used that hammer (Tibone) since 2001 and love it and wouldn't trade it for anything.
I hand nail a fair amount and while it is a luxury, its like a good pair of shoes, there really isn't a substitute. I frame/side every day, and I like to have comfortable shoes since I'm in them everyday, same with a hammer. |

Re: One Sexy Stiletto
While I use a gun, there is still a little hand nailing necessary on each project. If I really need to hit something hard, I use a sledge. Less wacks.
If I was hand framing all day, the Hart Californian Framer is the sweetest hitting hammer I have ever used. |

Re: One Sexy Stiletto
I have a Stiletto and wouldn't trade it for anything. I don't hand any anything too much anymore, but I still need a hammer on my belt for banging things around.
Aside from driving nails effortlessly, the real advantage of the Stillettos is that they are really light to carry around all day. They are so light, you don't even notice the thing swinging from your belt. At the end of the day, at the end of the week, that weight savings makes a significant difference to your body. Light is fast. Fast is light.

Re: One Sexy Stiletto
That's the truth, those estwings will give you tennis elbow bad. Had it for a year, doc kept giving me anti-inflamory pills that never worked. Finally he gave me some roids that knocked it out in a week. Flared up a few years later, told the doc skip all that other crap & give me the roids.

Dang carpenters. Every time I look at that thread title, a red light goes on in my brain and dancing girls float above my head. Stupid hammer.

I paid my Snap-On dealer $90.00 for a deadblow ball pein hammer, beacuse I was tired of packing lead joints on a ladder and having the hammer bounce back at my forehead.
