Little roof on top of gazebo.
I've built several of these, but I'm not sure of the architectural name. Actually I think I know the name, but not sure of the spelling. On a octagon shaped gazebo you frame up roof to a point then wall up to another plate line & put 8 sided roof on it. Like a little gazebo on top of the gazebo roof.
TIA for proper name & spelling.

Thanks, that's what I thought it was called, but I kept trying to start it off with a "Q".
Hopefully I will be building one soon. If I get it, it will be the best one I've ever done, plus big $.

Thanks, I do like building gazebos, gives me a chance to do some roof framing again. I've done about 20, but this one will be the first with a metal roof.

Cupola
What you are describing is a "cupola"
If it's short and used the vent the roof - "dog house"
If you can go in side - "crows nest"
