Question

Lightest Compressor?

Hello guys, new to the forum, looks like a good one! Question is: what's the smallest/lightest compressor that will run one framing nailgun? I finally had to give up the ole hammer and go to nailguns (tendonitis ) but since I do mostly smaller jobs, its silly to load the big compressor into my truck just for a few hundred nails. I've checked the local stores and they don't know much, so what do y'all think?

Try this dewalt compressor. It's small and easy to carry. I have it for smaller stuff but I have a gas rol-air compressor for all my other framing guns.

Re: Lightest Compressor?

You might want to think about a gas powered nailer lighter than a compressor. I know hitachi is putting one out soon to compete with paslode. I would buy one but I already have the hosed one and compressor less than 3 years old. I have used that dewalt before it is not very light and it runs alot even with only one gun running. I would stay away from a pancake as well friend had one I am not sure if it turned off the entire time he used it. I know hitachi has a gun/compressor combo for about $500 the compressor looks to be a little smaller than most of the stand alone compressors. There are some out now that have a dolly handle and wheels built in I know makita has one and hitachi does too I am sure there are more too that I dont know about.

Senco makes a small one that is very quiet too.

The hitachi compressor is actually a small work horse. I have seen one run two framing nailers. Even better with a extra tank.

The rol~air pancake is another good lil comp. I have rolled many joist's running two guns off just the stock tank.

This is it.

It's the only compressor I own, I've abused the crap out of it for years. It's oiless and it is probably half full of water because I'm too lazy even to purge it once a year. I run a PC F350 framing nailer, impact wrenches, blow out my sprinklers, and even blow texture with it. I can't imagine anything smaller than this.

Although Colorado is dry, rust will form inside the tank and could cause it to explode under pressure...

I can run three finish nailers off of it, so I bet it could handle a framing gun too

Re: Lightest Compressor?

Ended up getting that one today after a little searching (I assume that is the 150 psi model?) Anyway, I used it today quite a bit and loved it! Doesn't run much at all, good capacity at 6 gallons, and quite light! Thanks again guys!!!

Re: Lightest Compressor?

I have a number of these but they are LOUD. I caught them at a sale and bought a bunch of them. They are good for nailers and intermitant use. I have had some problems (custom) painting and forget them for any serious air tool use. IMHO this is a limited air nailer compressor and not one to make friends with.
