Hold Me Back

I have relatives visiting. My uncle shows up and starts right in.

"So......have you been working?"

I haven't seen him in almost 4 years.

"I'm working for this guy right now, old friend of mine, doesn't like to get out of bed. I told him I stary at 8."

I said "you dictate when you start?"

"Hell yes. I told him he needs to supply all the tools also so there's no way to get confused about who's tools are whose"

"OK" I said kind of hesitantly, curious as to this other guy, I want him to continue.

"Yep.....the project we're on now we're building our own trusses." He whispers "keeping this whole thing quiet because we don't have no permit"

"No permit huh?" I asked

"Nope. You know them boys they want you to put these little metal clips on so the hurricanes don't wreck the place"

"That so?"

"Yeah those trusses we makin' they're good. We got a 2x6 bottom board and 2x4 for the top boards"

Sounds good to me.

"Yeah......and the agreement is that this is under the table cuz he's gettin' paid under the table."

"Mmmm"

"You know, them trusses we're making you can't find no straight stuff to make them out of. We got clamps on both ends and it's still twisted."

Then he asks it.

"So.......how much do you pay for a helper anyway?"

"I don't"

What do you need to vent?
Middle Sis was here for the weekend,
to "help" me with Mom.
Just finished doing dishes
and pans last night (she insists
on washing by hand, doesn't insist
on wearing her glasses...)
At least another week to find
all of the things she "put away,
and tidied" for me.

You're right. I've got nothing on that!

Forgot to mention. The guy he "works" for is unlicensed. I felt like beating his ass.

Last time he was up, first thing out of his mouth was "now, you're not gonna start that truck of yours up at 5 am and wake me up" It wasn't a question, it was a demand.

He also asked my father to get underneath and check the brake cable on his motorhome. He doesn't want to do it. My father had just had back surgery less than a week earlier.

Re: Hold Me Back

I was gonna leave it alone, but......I just can't.

He left yesterday.

But before he did (and I was not there to witness, unfortunately) he decided to check out my daughter and make a comment I should think ones Uncle should never say in the first place.

Relatively harmless, but for an Uncle to be checking out his nephews daughter....that's grounds for an ass kicking. He'll get his someday soon.

Don't let this go, unless you want this behavior to continue. If you are, or your daughter is uncomfortable with your uncles actions or comments, take action to let him know that you are aware of what was said or done and are prepared to take action to prevent it from happening again. If he denies it, he is calling your daughter a liar and requires a mudhole to be stomped in his a$$ and walked dry.

Yeah, actually, I think that fits him perfectly. He vanished like he was never here. Didn't say goodbye or anything, just left. Though he backed his RV into my porch roof and broke a piece of fascia.
