Hi Everyone I Just Got My C-5!

Hi My name is George and I just became a c-5 framing contractor today!
I can't wait for my first big job but wanted to ask you guys how you felt about the BBB ( Better Business Bureau ) and if anyone has gotten good leads from them. they called me today and said the cost to sign up was 390.
And I was pondering what the best associations were and If anyone had any words of advice for a new comer. I know I got in at pretty much the worst time since My union hall is sending out 2 guys every 2 weeks, yet I did it so I could find my own work and be my own boss. ANY help or advice is great and am very happy to be writing on this forum finally ( After reading threads for months while waiting for the department of justice on my background check)
So Hi everyone and lets talk!

Congrats - you won't get leads per se from the BBB, but some customers will check out your record on them. Some may choose you because you are accredited but that in my opinion is a small minority. I choose to join, because they are a good organization. You may also consider your local Chamber of Commerce, Local HBA, etc...

I would save my money. Try service magic and some large restoration companies if your not too particular.

Congrats on the new framing contractor status greek!

As far as the BBB I've been a member for over 10 years with zero leads (as far as I know) from them, but it is something that your clients can get more info as to your company performances and cslb information.

Hold off on paying the $390.00 cause right now you could save some cash and also make two payments if your interested, just talk to the rep and do yourself a favor and negotiate the price.

BBB affiliation makes a statement on your marketing materials and sets you apart from other contractors. I would go to BNI networking groups and join the local chamber of commerce if I were you. if you want leads. I joined a local networking group that inspects your work before you are allowed to join which also comes with a certificate of excellence. Not a bad idea to also show something like that to your clients and prospects.
