Hardwood Source In Metrowest Massachusetts
Any MA/RI/NH guys know of a decent hardwood dealer near central mass? I need some thick (6/4 or 8/4) stock for a bar top. The species is open... cherry, oak, hard maple, mahogany, etc... (cost might be an issue with the client). I'm out between Worcester & Marlborough.
Thanks. |

The only place I know of is Anderson & McQuaid, but that is in Boston and probably not in your range you're looking for. How about having someone deliver?

I only know of A&M as well, They are in Cambridge right at the end of Rt 2 (Alewife) so you don't have to get into the city to get there. Anderson & McQuaid Co. Inc. - Boston's Best Lumberyard
There may be closer shops for you but around hear that's the one to go to There is also http://www.downesandreader.com/Site/index.html Further away for you but they deliver Last edited by Aframe; 12-16-2008 at 05:08 PM. Reason: added info |

Re: Hardwood Source In Metrowest Massachusetts
Most of my sources are probably too far north to be convenient, but here are some ideas:
The Woodery (Lunenburg, MA) I've used them mostly for veneer plywood, wacky wood, etc. but they have other lumber, too. New England Harwood (Littleton, MA) Not much exotic stuff, but they should have oak, maple, cherry, etc. MUCH further away ... Highland Hardwoods (Kingston, NH) All sorts of stuff. Very dangerous for a "wood guy" to go. There is a good chance they have any of the species you mentioned. Selectwood (Portsmouth, NH) Was only there once, but was the only place we could find with 2x6 redwood in stock (or could even get it). Good luck. If you need someone to help test the bar after you're done, let me know. I might even part with some homebrew! |

Jeremy. you may want to try Barrets. They are a family run business just off of rt 44 in Ct.I believe the town is thompson. Not far off of rt 395.
