Hardwood Floor Repair

I thought I post this here as well.
Thanks
A client of mine has a nasty stain about 20 inches in diameter that encompasses about 10 widths of hardwood floor. Anywho, I have done an internet search for this topic and have become familiar with it. However, does anyone have any advice as to what ehy have experienced?
I understand that the bottom of the groove will need to be removed so that the piece is able to fit the tongue. Here's the big Q......When gluing say the final piece in, is it best to glue it right to the subfloor...or should I just glue the "groove"? I am worried about expansion/contraction and eventual floor buckling if I glue right to the subfloor. Should I be concerned? I was going to use liquid nails as the glue. I am going to try and NOT face nail. Is this a good idea as well?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Hardwood Floor Repair

sorry if this is a tad late and you've already finished the job

you could certainly use a flooring gun to shoot angled staples into the tongue of each piece you put in place of the old stuff, all the way until probably the last piece. as far as gluing the entire section with NO face nails... IMO, i would think that the only way this could work is if you had something really heavy and flat to sit on top of it until the glue dries.

Re: Hardwood Floor Repair

Is there any way to take a water stain out of a maple hardwood floor short of replacing the actual boards??

Try sanding a small area. If that doesn't work remove and replace.

Re: Hardwood Floor Repair

I recently did a house with the same problem. They guy did not want to spend awhole lot of money to pull up the 8 boards, so I told him I can sand it the best I can and put a very light finish on it to match the aged floor. I told him that sanding will not make it look new again and he excepted that. Anyways sanded down with 80 grit then finished with 320 and put a coat of finish and it turned out great.
