Hardi Board
I live in a home about 50 years old and I want to replace the old fascia board.
I would like to use 1x6 Hardi board. I have a 1x2 on the fascia now and it is a truss gable. When I take of the gutters and then take off the 1x2 and the drip edge that is on now. I know I need to take it all off to the rafters. now first I have not found a 1x2 hardi board to replace the 1x2. Also what is the correct way to replace the drip tin that is on there now. |

Re: Hardi Board
You'll have to have a sub fascia behind your Hardi trim, and to make a 1x2 rip it outta wider Hardi trim. It's kind of a pain working with the stuff, we use alot of Miratec for fascia and love it.

Re: Hardi Board
Bob, you can usually find Azec and other PVC based materials at your local Home Center: "B"Lowes, Homer D. and any other reputable contractor supply house. I know Stock Bldg. Supply carries Azec, and they are nationwide. When you miter your corner, and/or do butt joints, use an all purpose PVC cleaner/cement to seal the joints and prevent gaps. DO NOT use a trim-blade when you cut the stuff. The high tooth-count will generate too much heat and melt the PVC. I use a 44 or 60 tooth blade on my miter saw (12" slider) and I cut as quick as I can to prevent heat build up, but slow enough so it doen't chip or shatter the plastic.
