Fence Pricing?

I'm new and maybe this has been asked before, but what do y'all charge for installing fencing? Specifically a 6' cedar fence?
I typically charge $20 LF, not including demo. Sound about right? I don't do it that often, only if it's part of a bigger job.

Re: Fence Pricing?

Hey my wife's from S.D.

I have fence's as my second specialty. I have never bid one myself. I will not advertise fences but as a option for deck jobs. How do you come out with the $20 LF? Is that figure for labor and materials?

Just a wild grasp - it worked pretty good last time...

Me too! Maybe we can start a best bands thread? I think Zep should do a tour with Jason on drums. I saw him this summer backing Foreigner and he is an awesome drummer, same kit as his dad. What did ya think of the last Dvd?

I actually ended up bidding this job at $32 l.f. after figuring out all the costs. Then again, in this exclusive San Diego suburb, a 900 sq ft house wil go for 1 million Cheapest condo in town right now: 700k, cheapest house: 1.3 mil

Re: Fence Pricing?

I thought that this was about fencing! Inside rail/shadowbox/ PT/6' is going just under $7.00 ft. here.

Re: Fence Pricing?

The last DVD was awesome. I want all of the footage from them in the airplane hanger. Coolest footage ever. Rumours of a reunion at MSG are arising again.

I haven't heard too much of Jason, although I think he would be the choice.

If I don't charge $26/linear for 6' PT Wyngate I loose the shirt fast. Sometimes people want fences for nothing, so they don't get one. And the lowballer sets his posts in 6" of beercan backfill 'round these parts.

Prices can vary from 20.00 to 40.00 per lf. Depends on alot of factors. part of country your from. Size of post. type of fence, style.is it custom. Hows the digging, Hows the terrian, Tough digging, on steep terrian can really add alot of labor to the price.

Re: Fence Pricing?

My prices range from $28/lf for board-on-board 6' high PT (no lattice) is $28/lf and as high as $85/lf for some of my custom cedar fence designs - this doesn't include any staining. Those prices are in Canadian funds, of course.

My posts are always set in concrete 4' below grade. My 5 year warranty wouldn't stand up otherwise.

Re: Fence Pricing?

I haven`t seen anyone use floating corners before, but I guess there`s hacks in every trade.

Re: Fence Pricing?

1. Estimate about how many posts you can sink per day (20).

2. Calculate your daily cost for doing the job ($600).

3. Multiply the cost by 1.50 to 2.00 for your sell price ($1050, a 75% MU).

4. Divide your sell price by the number of posts per day ($52.50 per post).

*. (the numbers above are for illustration purposes only - aka, NOT REAL).*

5. Next, see if you'll have enough to pay yourself after using your REAL numbers.
