i know. i would use it to shoten a peice thats 2 inches two short and angle stuff. the tricky cuts is what it would be good for. i know it can be done with a knife but the 2 inch piece just disintegrates

That clip made me think of a home owner helping his handy man.

Not something a pro or a guy looking into buying that saw would ever do.

What was Dewalt thinking ,insult the the guys they want to sell their saw to.

I'm buying the other one .

Re: Dewalt Track Saw, Funny Stuff

haahah i love there tool bags were can i get some of those. And who would hire the first guy on the right? he almost falls over himself while the other guy has his hand inches form the blade. gotta love how they added the horses after too and even then decide to cut the wood down the middle of the saw horses. Sometimes I wonder whats wrong with a company when they have guys like that on there commercials.

I have to take special precautions to make the cuts as chip free as possible. Cut the ply with the good side facing down, put masking tape on the cut to help with chip out. go real slow and then just a lot of hope. A buddy of mine had the Festool and brought it to my shop one time. Nice machine. You didn't have to clamp down the track and it made a very clean cut. It would be nice to have, but I would rather have a nice panel saw. What the heck, a good one is only around $15K
Personally I would go for Poweermatic 66 with the excabiber sliding table, 52" bessmeyer, fence router lift on the extended table, roller outfeed table and an accessory scoring blade for melamine and finish ply and a power stock feeder The whole set up is under 5 grand and you can do pretty much anything on it.

It's about $4.25K more expensive than the setup and it isn't portable. I have two tablesaws already. Although the scoring blade would be nice, I would rather have a nice panel saw than a slider.

Re: Dewalt Track Saw, Funny Stuff

Already looked at that one a few times. Almost a direct copy of the Festool. For a lot less money. I figure if I get one, whichever one, I will turn it into a sliding saw with a few precision steel bars and some linear bearings. Same ones I used on my router duplicator. Then I would have a nice setup to make a perfectly square cut on the longer, unmanageable sheets, with repeatability.

Re: Dewalt Track Saw, Funny Stuff

Seriously Leo, if you don't have a panel saw there is nothing easier than these types of saws for quickly and easily breaking down large sheet goods. I would get the Festool and not mess with the Makita. The one thing that the makita is missing that turns me off is the lack of a riving knife.

I don't have a riving knife on any of my tools. I doubt I would miss it.

Re: Dewalt Track Saw, Funny Stuff

The riving knife on these rail saws is really a must have in my opinion. Just feels safer and I know it has saved me a few times.

I can cut any size sheet good easily and safely with these types of saws.
