Dayum Kids!
There's this Youth Behavioral place I gotta do some work at tomorrow. It seems that these "troubled" kids they keep there are busting up the tanks on the toilets & using the broken pieces as weapons.
Outside of replacing the toilets with the prison type stainless deals, I gotta come up with a way to protect these tanks. I'm thinkin' bout a 2x2 frame anchored to the wall with 1/2" plywood screwed to the frame (surly they don't have a phillips head screwdriver in their pockets) so plumbers can remove the top to access the tank if need be. Now flushing the thing.........I ain't figured out yet. Y'all got any better ideas? |

Re: Dayum Kids!
We work in homes housing mentally disabled folks. The standard is to have no surface to grab on to. If these guys find a hand hold, they'll work at it and work at it until something comes loose. Even a little movement and anything will come loose over time. You can't eliminate all possibilities, but try to close it in all around and DAMN solid, or it won't hold up. I recommend steel cage wired to 220v. That'll stop 'em.

Re: Dayum Kids!
When you get there have all the kids gather round. Take out your sawzall and a 2x4, make sure you have the wickedest blade in it you have. Put the 2x4 on a saw horse and cut it in front of them. Then look around at them, very seriously say to them, the next one who breaks a toilet will have there hand cut off. Don't blink and let a very small sneer come to your lips. Then suddenly blurt out loudly UNDERSTAND!!. It would help if you had a severed hand dripping with blood to show them, but that is optional.
Make your plywood box, drill a hole and insert a screw through the back of the handle long enough to stick out through the plywood. Cut a slot in the plywood that aligns with this screw, it will need a slight curve. Using a rotozip would be ideal to make this slot. You could put some sort of a handle on the screw to make it easier to flush.

Re: Dayum Kids!
I was thinkin' of using toggle bolts to fasten the frame to the wall so if it does get pulled off part of the drywall is comin' with it!

Re: Dayum Kids!
Sounds like they would do that and use the drywall as a weapon!

If these kids are 'troubled' I vote for the stainless jail toilets, little bastards deserve it.

Re: Dayum Kids!
Use T25s. They should just dig a hole in the ground outside circled with a barb wire fence if they cant **** with out making a weapon.
