Crown Moulding Miter Q
Hello all. I have not done much in crown moulding in the past year...so please refresh my memory
! Assuming that the walls and ceiling are square and everything is living in the perfect world, and you wanted to cope the inside corners, at what angle should the miter be cut for the inside crown? I kind of remember somewhere around 20 degrees or so but I can't remember. Thanks in advance!

Re: Crown Moulding Miter Q
What type of saw are you using, what size crown are you using? Or what is the spring angle of the crown?

Re: Crown Moulding Miter Q
If you've got the saw to handle it, then always cut your crown 'upside down and backwards' . If this does'nt refresh your memory then I can explain.

Re: Crown Moulding Miter Q
The crown is just the 3 5/8 from the Home Despot. I only have a cheep Craftsman compound mitre saw...so fancy cuts are out of the question.
When you say 33.9o on both sides, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean the compound cut also? Thanks |

Re: Crown Moulding Miter Q
Nutty, if the crown is 3-5/8" the dimension from the ceiling down to the bottom edge of the crown is probably around 2". This means you can put a line on your fence to represent that dimension, and cut the crown in place (upside down and backwards). If your fence is too short then screw a piece of 1/2" stock to the fence, to make it work.If not you need to know the spring angle of the crown 15,30,45 degree ... etc. Because it will require compound cuts if the crown needs to be cut flat. Also you may want to checkout Gary Katz website for better instructions.
