Question

Converging Pocket Door Linkage Kit Any Drawings

I am needing to design a kit to make two converging pocket doors open and close at the same time. I just cannot wrap my head around how to do this with pulleys and cable. Anyone got any ideas or seen such a kit to purchase? Thanks for your time. Brian

Hafele has some kits for vertical movement of 2 doors similar to what you described. That may help you.
I have not seen a kit for two pocket doors to move together like that.

two pins on the top of the doors where they meet, a single pulley deep within the pocket where the pocket ends, a wire from one pin on one door to the pulley then to the other door pin

thats almost the same as I posted, But what i posted would close the door but would not open as you cant push anything with cables. your dual setup solves that little quirk.

There is a future for you in the mechanical drawing world
Seems simple enough if you can get all that in there around the rollers.
Great idea!

That is some mad cad skills. It looks good just would have to figure out how to attach the pulleys and cables and you could NOT have a pin on the top of the doors. That is where the doors attach to the rail to slide on.... My header for this door is 3 2x10s. Anyone else got anything? I know I have seen them done.

Re: Converging Pocket Door Linkage Kit Any Drawings

you can do it with a chain or rope in the same concept as the pic above, but on a horizontal plane

put 1 small sprocket or pully all the way to the left, and 1 to the right ... connect and attach 1 line to one door ant the other line to the other

You really need to talk person to person with them. There are lots of variables involved like size and thickness of the doors.

This is "custom" work, hope you didn't low ball it!

(You did, didn't you?)

Nope not this time. Still trying to figure out what I will need to make it happen. I am thinking pulleys are looking better and better. Just figured if someone had a kit already that was sold I could just look at its design for a better idea.
