Cedar Soffit

I have a friend that wants me to remove and install a cedar t & g soffit for here. What I'm sure of is what to charge here and is there anything special I should know before installing the soffit other then the norm with soffit installs.

We don't need soffit here; this is an internet forum. But you're welcome to install it for her if you wish to.

No need to charge us; we expect to be able to hassle you for free. You should charge her according to the cost of materials, labor, overhead and profit desired.

All tongue & groove soffit installation is essentially the same. But you should probably know that poorly stated "how much?" questions are generally met with derision here. Actually, even if they're quite well stated.

One thing is important to know.
1. How to install cedar soffit.

How could anyone help you without specific information. If you can answer these questions, I will give you an honest answer.
1. What kind of soffit exists on the house now?
2. How high in the air is the soffit line?
3. What are the site conditions?
4. How far does the soffit project from the house?
5. How is the fascia finished now?
6. Are the fascias being replaced also?
7. How will the new soffit be vented?
8. Are you responsible for staining or finishing the soffit?
9. What kind of siding is on the house now?
10. How will the soffit be finished at the siding intersection?
11. Are you buying the material?
12. Do the rakes have an overhang?
13. Are the rakes getting new soffit material installed also?

In the south, watch out for roach crap...tearing out old soffits was one of the most nasty jobs.
