Re: Best Table Saw
For a portable jobsite table saw you can't beat the Bosch 10".

Re: Best Table Saw
Yeah, is this a shop saw or one to take to different jobs every day?
By the way, Delta and Porter Cable are owned by Black and Decker as is Dewalt.

Re: Best Table Saw
I love my ridgid portable jobsite saw w/ stand for a jobsite saw. I went ahead and trued it up the first time I used it. took about 40 minutes to get everything straight, but now I get straight cuts with almost no kerf left on em ,but you gotta use a nice blade. Last time I had a job my boss had a cabinet shop and he used a grizzly stationary with a zero cut sled for crosscutting and bunch of jigs for whatever else he had to do. That setup was nice a hewll.
Whichever saw you end up getting you almost always have to tweek em and change the damn factory blade off. theres a few woodworking magazines that have gone over the process. basically getting the blade square from front to back, getting it verticle at a 90 degree setting, and getting the fence in line with the blade... also goes over some good jigs and sleds to use for em. Alex Don't forget to wax the table. |

Re: Best Table Saw
I think that what you need for a shop-tablesaw, is going to be different from what would be used as a jobsite-tablesaw.
You want a saw that is more powerful and more stable. You should consider building an in-feed/out-feed table around it, for larger stock cutting. Maybe do a search over on WoodTalk about this?

Re: Best Table Saw
Shop saw: Delta belt drive with the largest table extensions your shop will fit.
Portable saw: This is a great saw but it takes up a lot of room in the truck.

Re: Best Table Saw
The Lowest grade shop saw is prolly better than the better jobsite saws, but you are gonna want to put it in the shop and leave it there. I suggest buying both
If you buy a good quality Jobsite saw you can use it in the shop too, but its not gonna be like a high grade workshop saw. Most woodworkers have big extensions on at least three sides of their shop saws with dust collection systems hooked up to them. I guarantee they're not taking their saw out of the shop until they move. Alex |

Re: Best Table Saw
After my Makita 10" got ripped off I bought a Skil. Just a cheapo, then I put it to close to a fireplace we were burning the cut offs in and melted one whole side. I put a $10 seven and a quarter Diablo blade on it and use it for ripping trim on kitchen and bath remodels. That and a good sharp block plane gets it all done. On sale right now for $170 at Menards. I have a Rockwell table saw in my shop

Another vote for the new portable DeWalt... very compact and accurate, I really like this saw for trim work:
