Best Miter Saw Blade
Im sure everyone has a favorite, but what is in your opinion the best brand for a miter saw blade. Im asking this in general, but in particular for a finish blade for moulding and maby a little laminate flooring here and there. Are the Freud Diablo blades any good? Ive got one in a circ saw because someone gave me it, and I'm fairly pleased. Thanks guys.

Re: Best Miter Saw Blade
I've always used the 96 tooth Diablo for finish work and have no complaints.
I just recently bought a Rigid 100 tooth " The Ultimate " trim blade and I must say it is sweet. Of course it's brand new so I'll see how well it performs in the long run. I keep my trim blades exclusively for hardwoood trims. For framing I use a 40 tooth dewalt blade. Someday I may just splurge and buy a forest trim blade. They claim to be the best.

Re: Best Miter Saw Blade
Good to hear the Diablos are working out for you guys too. I picked up a 60 tooth today, think thats enough teeth to cut a little laminate flooring. I have to put in a small maby 8x8 floor. I was debating between the 60 and 80, but the 80 is probably overkill for what I usually use it for.

Re: Best Miter Saw Blade
I've been stuck on the diablo blades for a while now. I use a 96 tooth for finish and 40 for framing. If I do any laminate flooring I'll usually throw an old blade in the saw cause that stuff chews blades like crazy.

Re: Best Miter Saw Blade
Diablo
I tried it once about 5 years ago and haven't bought another type since. Depending on the material, 96tpi for soft woods / 80tpi for oak or maple. And it actualy stands up to laminate flooring quite well.

Re: Best Miter Saw Blade
I have Freud blades in my mitre and table saws and am pleased with them.
I have actually thinking about ponying up the cash and getting n FS Tool one though. They're supposed to be pretty sweet! |

Re: Best Miter Saw Blade
Forrest WWII - you can resharpen them for about 5-10 each and get quite a few more sharpenings than Freud, Oldham, Dewalt, etc.

Re: Best Miter Saw Blade
I was turned on to Matsu****a blades years ago... for stain grade, veneers etc... I wouldn't use anything else.
The Freud blades are good... but I don't think they're worth much more than those cheapie Oldham (?) blades from Depot. I use the Oldhams on my small table (just for scribe cuts), upright panel and radial arm saws. Basically... anything that's probably going to end up being cut again. I use Matsu****a's on my sliders and shop table saw. Expensive... but they last forever and cut smooth as glass. Also... I'd never use a good blade to cross-cut laminate flooring. What's the point? It just eats blades... and the cut ends are always covered anyway. edit... Wow. That's a pretty damn aggressive profanity editor. We can't say "Matsush!ta"?!?!? Give me a ****ing break! |

Re: Best Miter Saw Blade
Yea haha ya know i was thinking bout gettin a run of the mill silver blade, but the red diablo really matches my milwaukee saw. At least that was my gf's comment on my "cute" red blade.

Re: Best Miter Saw Blade
It's not the blade. How good is your sharpener?
